Jakarta, August 2026 –European apples and kiwis were presented to Indonesian food-sector professionals during Food & Hospitality Indonesia 2026, held from 21 to 24 July at the Jakarta International Expo. As part of its activities in Jakarta, the “Garden of Europe” campaign also organised two B2B dinners, creating opportunities for direct exchange between representatives of the European and Indonesian food sectors.

Indonesia represents a significant market for imported fresh fruit. Data from BPS –Statistics Indonesia show that in 2025 the country imported approximately 318,000 tonnes of fresh apples, valued at nearly USD 357 million. Kiwifruit imports reached approximately 20,000 tonnes, with a value of nearly USD 19 million. Against this backdrop, Food & Hospitality Indonesia provided an opportunity for European producers to engage directly with importers, distributors and other professionals operating in the Indonesian food market.

During the Jakarta activities, campaign representatives met with Indonesian food-sector professionals to discuss market requirements, product availability, storage and handling, consumer preferences and opportunities for further cooperation. The meetings also allowed campaign representatives to present European apples originating in Poland and European kiwis originating in Greece and explain the production and quality standards behind them.

The Jakarta events form part of the third year of Garden of Europe activities in Indonesia. Throughout the year, the campaign will continue to engage with Indonesian consumers and food-sector professionals through media activities, business meetings, promotional events and digital communication, providing information about European apples and kiwis and the standards behind their production.

The “Garden of Europe” campaign is a three-year project (2024–2027), co-funded by the European Union, promoting European kiwis originating in Greece and European apples originating in Poland in Indonesia. The campaign aims to strengthen their market presence and increase consumer awareness, while highlighting European production standards related to quality, food safety, traceability and responsible production, as well as the nutritional value of fresh fruit.
